“Pehli Leher” (First Wave) tells the story of South Asians that immigrated to the United States in the 1960s and 70s. The film focuses on the “early days” of this generation, including the ambition that took them to the United States, the animosity faced in the first few months as an immigrant, and their assimilation into U.S. culture.

Kahani ("story" in Hindi) believes that some powerful stories are never told because no one asks. Kahani exists to capture these stories on film and give them a platform to be heard.
Kahani was launched in January, 2007, at the Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, IL.
